Salt Water Dry Sand Beach Detecting Tip-2
Contributor: Lee Wiese
Tip: Most beaches have a number of places where people sit, lay there beach
items or just gather together. Each of these beach areas can be very
productive for metal detecting. One should always detect around and
under any beach obstacle.
Areas to consider are:
- Beach Entry Points. Any entrance to a beach should be detected, as
people leave the beach they are not always organized and may lose
valuable items in the pathways to and from the beach.
- Foot Areas of Sand Dunes. Do not go into the Sand Dune or the grass
areas, but at the very foot of the dune on a busy beach can be a good
place to detect.
- Life Guard Stations. Beach goers gather around life guard stations,
thus this can be a good spot to metal detect. Also if there is an area
under the guard station make sure you detect that as well.
- Lounge Chairs with Umbrellas. These areas are best detected in the
evening after the lounge chairs have been gather up by the beach
personnel or early in the morning before the lounge chairs are setup
again on the beach.
- Retaining Walls or Separation Barriers. Frequently beach goers like to
sit on walls or barriers and this can also be a good place to detect.
- Snack Shack. If there are snack areas located on the beach there can
be many lost coin near the stand. Check them out.
- Tree (Shade Area). If there are any tree areas on the beach, determine
where the shade areas are in the hot part of the afternoon and detect
those areas very slowly.
- Volleyball Courts. Volleyball courts should be detected carefully on
both sides of the net, the area around the poles that retain the net and
the area (4-6ft) surrounding the volleyball court perimeter.
